Corona Physician and the founder of Pacific Pain Care Institute, Dr. Sanjoy Banerjee has shared his opinion on low back pain and its causes. The link between low back pain and disability was also highlighted. This information is crucial for all people who take low back pain lightly and ignore it as a minor problem.

Though in some cases, low back pain can go away on its own in some cases, many times the pain can make a person lose his or her ability to move on his or her own. Corona Physician Dr. Banerjee is the right person to talk about low back pain because he is Triple Board Certified in Pain Medicine, Anesthesiology, and Addiction Medicine. One of his specialty is to help people get over chronic pain by using interventional pain management techniques such as interventional spine procedures. The causes of low back pain highlighted by the pain expert are strains & sprains, disc related problems, and nerve related issues among others.

Reading about all the causes is smart if a person wants to avoid low back pain and get it cured before it completely overtakes the life and makes living difficult or worse, makes a person dependent on others for everything.

Corona Physician and the founder of Pacific Pain Care Institute, Dr. Sanjoy Banerjee recently talked about disability due to low back pain and the main reasons why people have low back pain. The thoughts shared are essential for people who have low back pain but don’t understand the severity of it and the impact of it on day to day life of a person because in many cases, low back pain can lead to disability.

Highlighting the results of research conducted on low back pain and disability, Corona Physician and Pain Management Expert Dr. Sanjoy Banerjee said “A global study has revealed that back pain is the reason behind more disability as compared to any other health issue. It is also the leading cause of disability across the globe. Nearly 1 in 10 people become victims of low back pain, and the situation is getting worse with time. The highest number of victims are in Western Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. The numbers are lowest in Latin America and the Caribbean. This study used the data from a large study conducted in 2010, and it has focused people’s attention to how serious the common problem of low back pain could be.”

Talking about a common reason for low back pain, Corona Physician and Pain Management Expert Dr. Sanjoy Banerjee said “Most of the people who have low back pain don’t realize that the back pain is mechanical in nature. Many people get back pain because they have spondylosis, a general degeneration of the spine which is usually due to normal wear and tear that occurs in a person’s bones, discs, and joints as people age.”

Dr. Sanjoy Banerjee is Triple Board Certified in Pain Medicine, Anesthesiology, and Addiction Medicine. The doctor also specializes in interventional pain management techniques. Performing interventional spine procedures is also an achievement of Dr. Sanjoy Banerjee.

Sharing other reasons that lead to low back pain, Corona Physician and Pain Management Expert Dr. Sanjoy Banerjee said “Strains and sprains are also common reasons of low back pain. Strains are tears that occur in muscle or tendon while sprains are usually due to ligament tears or overstretching. Sprains and strains usually occur when a person fails to be cautious and does stuff that puts pressure on the

back such as lifting something too heavy, lifting something in an improper manner or even using bad posture continually. These mistakes also lead to back muscle spasms that are quite painful.”

Mentioning disc related issues that lead to low back pain, Corona Physician and Pain Management Expert Dr. Sanjoy Banerjee said “Intervertebral disc degeneration can also lead to low back pain. In this condition, the rubbery discs lose integrity which is a part of the aging process. As the discs start to lose the cushioning ability, a person may find it hard to do basic tasks like bending. In cases where intervertebral discs rupture budges outward or become compressed, a person is said to have herniated or ruptured discs.”

Shedding light on nerve related issues that trigger low back pain, Corona Physician and Pain Management Expert Dr. Sanjoy Banerjee said “Radiculopathy, Sciatica, and Spondylolisthesis can also lead to severe low back pain. Radiculopathy occurs when a person’s spinal nerve root is compressed, inflamed or injured. When the sciatic nerve is compressed, it is known as Sciatica, one of the many forms of radiculopathy. Spondylolisthesis occurs when a person’s vertebra of the lower spine pinches the nerves which are exiting the spinal column because the vertebra has slipped out of place.”

Discussing some other common reasons people have low back pain, Corona Physician and Pain Management Expert Dr. Sanjoy Banerjee said “Any vehicular accident, sports injury or an incident like a fall that injures your ligaments, muscles or tendons can lead to low back pain. If the injury is traumatic, it may overly compress the spine, and it can lead to rupture of the intervertebral disc. Injuries or accidents can also compress or irritate spinal nerves and hence may lead to problems like pain, numbness, leg weakness or worse, sensory loss.”

Suggesting a solution that can help with low back pain, Corona Physician and Pain Management Expert Dr. Sanjoy Banerjee said “If you have been suffering from low back pain for years and no medical or home remedies have proven to be successful for you, you should consider talking to a pain management expert. The pain management experts like the ones at Pacific Pain care will use different pain management strategies, or a combination of a few to give you relief from pain. Though the process of finding the pain management method might be a bit time consuming, the results are satisfactory simply because the pain management technique suits your body.”
